UMV Coating Systems – A Legacy of Innovation in Coating & Sizing
Since the invention of the Billblade® at the Billingsfors-Långed paper mill in 1962, UMV has continuously evolved. From its beginnings as AB INVENTING under the Bonnier Group in 1968, to becoming BTG UMV Coating Systems in 2002 (with Mattssongruppen as new owners), and finally focusing 100% on coating and sizing as UMV Coating Systems AB by 2010.

The company changes name to BTG Coating Systems AB
2002
The company is acquired by the Swedish based Mattsson Group.
2004
Expanded to offer full-scope paper machine solutions under UMV Pulp & Paper.
2007
The company changes name to UMV Coating Systems AB.
2008
Introduction of the patented INVO® Tip, revolutionizing coating metering.
2012
The new INVO® Tip factory in Säffle is inaugurated.
2015
UMV makes a breakthrough in barrier coating technology by using a combination of INVO® Coater and INVO® Tip together.
2017
Two INVO Coaters are delivered to a new 3 meter offline coater in the US for production of barrier products
2021
A complete UMV coating section for barrier coating are installed in Stora Enso Forshaga, Sweden
2024
A breakthrough in applying high viscosity materials are presented
