Meet the staff: Maria Lindh

Get to know Maria, our versatile Shipping & Accounts Manager. With extensive experience and great dedication, she keeps everything running smoothly – from orders to shipping and all the accompanying documentation.

Hi Maria! How long have you been working at UMV, and how did your career here begin?

I began my career on 2 January 1989 at BTG Källe Inventing AB. I worked there until December 1991, when I went on parental leave and stayed home for over three years. When I was ready to return to work, the HR manager reached out and asked if I wanted to join “Inventing” (now UMV Coating Systems AB). I started working as a secretary, drafting quotes, among other tasks.

After another parental leave, I returned in 1997 and began working with sales, quotations, brochures, and trade fairs. There was a lot of writing involved back then!
In 2002, the company was acquired by Mattssongruppen in Uddevalla. My role changed, and I started working more with orders and shipping.

Can you tell us about your role and main responsibilities at UMV today?

I work as a Shipping & Accounts Manager. Since I’m the only one in this role, there’s often a lot to do, and it involves a wide range of tasks. I manage shipping, issue various customs documents, handle orders, purchases, letters of credit, and more. This role requires cross-departmental collaboration, which I really enjoy.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The best part of my job is the variety of tasks and the teamwork. I appreciate the friendly and supportive atmosphere where we all step up for one another, no matter the time of day! Working at a smaller company means you get to take on a range of responsibilities. Together with my fantastic colleagues, who are always helpful and supportive, we’ve created a workplace where you truly enjoy being.

What do you think is UMV’s greatest strength in the industry?

Our strength lies in our broad customer base and deep expertise. Innovation is at the core of what we do – we are always striving to develop and stay ahead of our competitors, both in customer solutions and sustainability efforts. Our customer focus, combined with strong collaboration and attentiveness within the company, makes us stand out.

Where do you see UMV in the future?

I really believe in our future. We will continue to develop even better solutions, both for the environment and for our customers. Collaboration and attentiveness remain key strengths. The customer is always at the center of what we do, and we continuously encourage them to think ahead – to grow and explore new opportunities.

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

In my free time, I like to stay active daily with various forms of exercise such as gym workouts, cross-country skiing (when there’s snow), and walks in nature, which I always find refreshing.

I also have three little grandchildren (with another on the way!) whom I love spending time with. I enjoy travelling – whether it’s to sunny beaches or more adventurous trips where I can explore by hiking in nature or discovering a city I’ve never visited before.
